13-Year-Old Girl Asks Easy Bake Oven To End Sexist Ads

4 Dec

This article was written about a young girl who wanted her younger brother to cook with out the stigma of gender. He believed that since only girls were in the commercials then only girls can cook and play with the toy. In some of the presentations in class there has been talk of gender roles and being persuaded one way or the other based on gender. I think that this is something that is not often talked about and viewed as “normal”. What more can be done to help beat the gender stereotypes?

I love this. Growing up my brother never wanted to cook with my Easy Bake because it was “a girls toy”. It would be nice to see more little girls and boys playing with things such as this in the commercials. If more boys grew up without seeing these kinds of gender roles, women would have far more support in gaining equality.
